Rustic Romance: A Countryside Wedding Where the Bride Wore the Watters Persephone Gown
When love starts at a wedding, you know it’s destined for something extraordinary. Poppy and Chris’ story is one of serendipity, romance, and a day they’ll never forget. From an unforgettable proposal to finding the one—the breathtaking Persephone gown by Willowby—at Bridal Indulgence, here’s a glimpse into their beautiful journey.
The Proposal
Some love stories begin with a glance, and Poppy and Chris’ was no exception. “We actually met at my mum and now stepdad’s wedding! Chris was a wedding videographer at the time, and it was a bit of a Love Actually moment when he saw me down the lens. The rest is history!” says Poppy.
Fast forward a few years, and Chris planned a proposal straight out of a dream. “Chris took me on a surprise trip to Monaco, one of my dream destinations,” Poppy shares. The highlight? A private yacht cruise down the French Riviera at sunset. Anchored in a quiet bay, Chris got down on one knee. “It was perfect!”
The Dress
When it came to wedding dress shopping, Poppy’s journey started with a scroll through Instagram. “I came across Watters’ designs and knew I had to see them in person. Bridal Indulgence was an hour and a half away, but it was so worth it!”
Not knowing exactly what she wanted, Poppy kept an open mind. “I loved lace, silk, sleeves, strapless—honestly, I thought it would be a minefield!” With her mum by her side and the studio all to herself, she found the experience magical. “Kerri and the team were so supportive. Trying on the dresses was just amazing!”
Poppy knew she’d found the one the moment she stepped into the dress. “It just felt right—so comfortable and so ‘me.’ My mum never cries, but she was in floods of tears when she saw me!”
The dress was a showstopper. “I loved how different it was. I had so many comments that people had never seen anything like it before. It made me feel incredible.” She paired it with a plain cathedral-length veil and kept her accessories simple. “On the morning of the wedding, I was surprised with a Cartier diamond necklace. Of course, I had to wear it!”
The Wedding
Poppy and Chris chose the enchanting Abbots Court as their venue. “When we went to view it, it was like nothing we’d ever seen before! The stunningly renovated farmhouse was exclusively ours for the long weekend.” With six glamping pods for their wedding party and all events taking place onsite, the venue was everything they had dreamed of.
Walking down the aisle, Poppy felt a wave of nerves. “I was terrified! But once I caught Chris’ eyes, I felt calm.” Their ceremony in the barn and reception in the pavilion were filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
One of the most cherished moments? Taking time for just the two of them during the day. “It was the best day of our lives, but it can feel overwhelming. We made sure to step back and take it all in—it’s so important to reflect on everything you’ve worked so hard for.”
Advice for Brides-to-Be
Poppy’s advice for dress shopping? “Go with an open mind! You might be surprised by styles you didn’t expect to love. Trust the process—you’ll know when it’s right.”
Poppy and Chris’ wedding was nothing short of magical, filled with personal touches, timeless style, and moments that will be cherished forever. Their love story is a reminder that sometimes, the best beginnings are the ones you least expect.
