The Proposal
Charlotte met her partner Chris on Hinge, an online dating app, and their love story led them to a beautiful engagement on Lundy Island, just off the North Devon coast. Charlotte shared, "It couldn’t have been more magical if he tried."
“Chris grew up by the beautiful North Devon coast, so our weekends are frequently spent at his family home there. Last year for my birthday, he surprised me with a weekend away to Lundy Island (just off the North Devon coast). We started our trip by going for a long walk to explore the island. It had been a windy morning, but we stopped off at a secluded clifftop where the wind all seemed to completely stop and everything was still. That’s where he popped the question! Minutes later, we saw dolphins swim past, followed by seals!”
The Dress
Charlotte discovered Bridal Indulgence through a friend's recommendation and decided to bring her mum along to her bridal appointments. She didn't have a specific idea in mind when she started shopping, but she wanted to try on a range of styles to see what she would fall in love with. She ended up falling in love with the Josephin dress by House of Flora.
Trying on wedding dresses was a dream come true for Charlotte. She loved the feeling of being a princess for a few hours and seeing how different styles looked on her. When she found "the one," both she and her mum knew it was the dress for her. The modern design, delicate detailing, and lightweight feel of Josephin made it perfect for her special day.
“I loved that it was modern and felt different to other dresses I’d seen. It has beautiful delicate detailing, especially in it’s beautiful train! Comfort was also a big thing for me, and I loved how lightweight and easy to move in it was.'‘
On her wedding day overlooking the North Devon coast, Charlotte accessorised her dress with a pearl necklace gifted by Chris and simple gold hoop earrings.
The Wedding
Charlotte and Chris always knew they wated to get married overlooking the North Devon Coast, with Charlotte describing it as “a place close to our hearts.”
They had a church ceremony followed by a marquee wedding reception alongside Putsborough beach. The day was filled with memorable moments, from getting ready with her loved ones to saying "I do" to Chris.
It’s so hard to pick just one moment! From spending the morning getting ready with my family and bridesmaids, to seeing Chris for the first time at the end of the aisle, to spending the rest of our day celebrating in the place we love with all our closest friends and family, it really all was a dream come true.
Looking back, Charlotte's advice to brides-to-be is to enjoy the process of finding the perfect dress. She said, "Just enjoy it. Don’t put pressure on yourself as the right dress will come along and you’ll know when you’ve found it." Just like Charlotte, trust your instincts and enjoy every moment of your wedding dress shopping experience.
